Karma system: self-defense shouldn’t down your "friendly server rating" in Duo-Trio

Hi team,

My friends and I have been playing a lot of solo matches and we play very safe and friendly. After ~50 games, almost nobody even shot at us in solos. But when we queue as a trio, matchmaking seems to struggle to place us by “karma,” so we either land in nearly empty servers or get filled with sketchier players who camp, rat, and shoot first.

When that happens, we defend ourselves and win the fights, but the karma system still punishes us for the kills. Then our karma drops and, in solo matches afterward, we suddenly get treated like “bad karma” players and people start shooting at us more often.

It feels a bit backwards: in real life, self-defense doesn’t lower your karma.

Suggestion: could the karma system detect self-defense (for example: they dealt damage first, or they were flagged as aggressors) and reduce or remove karma penalties for kills in those situations, especially in trio queues?

Thanks for looking into it.

Agreed. I feel the same for looting raider bodies you find. Like if I just found them that way why does taking their loot effect my matchmaking?

I looted maybe 3 bodies I found randomly across a few rounds and then I started getting ratty lobbies and even kos players.
